Samsung brings a panic button to the SmartThings app for emergencies

Samsung brings a panic button to the SmartThings app for emergencies

Samsung has announced a new feature called SmartThings Safe Premium. It is a premium service that brings enhanced safety and security to your home. When you press the Help button in the SmartThings app, it connects you with professional emergency assistance.

SmartThings Safe Premium brings 24/7 emergency help to your home

With SmartThings Safe Premium, you can send help requests during emergencies. This feature is powered by Arlo, which offers 24/7 emergency response services. Arlo̢۪s monitoring providers can dispatch police, fire, or medical assistance to your exact location, depending on the type of emergency.

SmartThings Safe already includes a Basic Plan that is available for free, while SmartThings Safe Premium adds 24/7 professional emergency dispatch.

When you press the Help button, a 10-second countdown begins. If you don̢۪t cancel it, a help request is automatically sent to a professional monitoring center. The monitoring team then contacts you by phone or text message to determine what kind of assistance you need. If they can̢۪t reach you, they will request local emergency responders, such as police, firefighters, or medical personnel, to be dispatched to your current location, which is determined using your phone̢۪s GPS.

The app will also send your location and contact options to your emergency contacts (Location Members) in the SmartThings app. This feature is available on both Android and iOS.
